Slice the Ice at The Sculpture Garden Ice Rink
The National Gallery is known, well, nationally for its impressive collection of art, and that art collection doesn’t end when you step beyond its doors. That’s where you’ll find the sculpture garden. While you might be a little less inclined to stroll around the garden in the chilly winter months, what about enjoying the art from atop a pair of ice skates? The Sculpture Garden Ice Rink is officially open for the season!
The rink will remain open through the holiday season and into March, opening its gates daily at 11 a.m. (and closing between 9 and 11 p.m., depending on the day). Pay the $10 admission and you’ll be able to enjoy two 45-minute skating sessions. If you need to refuel between the sessions, mask up and head to the Pavilion Cafe. It’s open until 5 or 6 p.m. daily, dishing out light bites inspired by the seasons. Grab a sandwich or a flatbread if you stop by around lunchtime, or grab coffee and dessert a little later in the day.
